Photothermal therapy with carbon nanotubes

Experimental work on bioconjugation of carbon nanotubes with chemotherapeutic agents for targeted breast cancer therapy.

Problem

Targeted delivery of chemotherapeutics remains limited by off-target toxicity; photothermal approaches using functionalized carbon nanotubes are a candidate strategy.

Approach

Trained in photothermal cancer therapy and bioconjugation of carbon nanotubes with chemotherapeutic drugs, including cell culture techniques, cultivation of E. coli for gene expression, and maintenance and treatment of breast cancer cell lines.

Result

Contributed to an international co-investigation recognized by the University of Oklahoma for photothermal therapy research.
