A clinician who computes, working from high-altitude clinics to microgravity.
I am a medical doctor and bioinformatician with experience spanning immunology, infectious diseases, microbiome research, and computational biology. My work has moved between the bench and the terminal — from ELISA assays and cell culture to reproducible NGS pipelines for viral genomics, microbiome profiling, and glycan analysis.
I contribute to projects within the NASA Open Science Data Repository (OSDR) Brain Analysis Working Group, studying neuroinflammation, viral reactivation, and host–pathogen interactions in Alzheimer's disease and astronaut omics data. My aim is to advance research at the intersection of infectious diseases, neuroinflammation, and space health — developing precision tools for rapid pathogen detection and uncovering how immune–microbial interactions influence brain function.
Much of that work has been done under constraint. I completed my master's in bioinformatics while serving Peru's national rural health service in Taquile, a remote, high-altitude island community in Lake Titicaca — a government-designated Grade 5 difficulty placement with limited diagnostics, emergency support, and transport. Delivering primary and preventive care, running epidemiological surveillance, and coordinating referrals there sharpened the operational decision-making I now bring to research.
